Environmental science students designed, built, and tested water filters with "polluted" water. As a secondary test of water quality, they took samples of their filtered water, and inoculated agar plates to see if pathogens were still present in the filtered water. We'll check back in a few days to see if any pathogens are growing on the potato agar plates.

Thank you to everyone who donated and helped with the food drive! We will be able to help out families in our community and are grateful for the support.

Mrs. Avram's Kindergarten class, along with their families worked on an at home project to disguise a Turkey! Student then presented their Turkey using adjectives in very clever ways to save their Turkey from becoming dinner next week! Here are just a few examples of their hard work! Way to go Kindergarteners!

The 1st graders created their own informational animal book. They wrote 4 chapters, created a table of contents, and included a caption and diagram page!

These turkeys, created by our 1st graders, are disguised as community helpers! They certainly will escape from becoming Thanksgiving dinner. 🦃

Music is the universal language, and this week's episode of The Wolverine Wake-Up celebrates the music makers at AGS. They're the rhythm, the sound, and the heartbeat of games, pep rallies, and pump through our classroom speakers during projects and birthday parties. Our award-winning band has brought recognition to our school for decades, and this week we want to highlight the hard working folks who put the pep in our step every day. I had the opportunity to represent Au Gres-Sims School District at the National Place-Based Education Conference this week on the beautiful campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti. I was able to share our story of place-based education and its impact on our students with people from all over the United States (states highlighted in green), Canada, and Japan!

The kids had a chance to use chopsticks 🥢, to eat their lunch. Some are pretty good at it.

Here is a look at some of the great meals we had this week.

Mrs. Avram's kindergarten students spent today learning all about Veterans Day, and some of our AGS alumni heroes who have bravely served our country! ❤️🤍💙
Through stories, photos, and crafts, students discovered the meaning behind patriotic symbols, like the American flag, the bald eagle, and the poppy flower.
We are so proud of our youngest learners for showing curiosity and respect for those who protect our freedom! 🇺🇸
Thank You Veterans!

7th grade science students are studying properties of matter. Today students predicted whether mystery objects would float in water by calculating their densities. They measured an object's mass and volume to calculate density.

Congratulations to Au Gres Sophomore Kendall Ososcki on being selected Second Team All Conference. PoweredByPurpose #Wolverineslead
