Several days have passed since environmental science students took samples of the filtered water from their water filter build projects(see previous post). They noticed their "filtered" water was not quite as clean as one might think. Look at all of the bacteria and mold colonies growing on the potato agar plates!

Environmental science students prepared native Michigan plant seeds for cold stratification today. This process simulates the freezing and thawing process that naturally occurs during winter, only we're using a refrigerator so that we can begin growing plants in February!
