What is a school sinking fund?

A sinking fund is a separate dedicated fund for certain long-term school projects and expenses. One simple way to picture it is as a home repair savings account for the school district.

Just as a homeowner may save for a roof, furnace, or other major repair, a school district can collect money over time for eligible building, security, technology, and transportation projects and expenses.

Over the next several weeks, we will explain the Au Gres-Sims proposal one part at a time.

Square maroon, gold, and cream infographic with the capital projects tree logo at the top. A school building points toward a jar labeled “Home Repairs.” Text explains that a sinking fund is a dedicated fund for eligible, long-term school projects and compares it to a home repair savings account. A footer reads, “Paid for by: Au Gres-Sims School District, 310 S. Court St. Au Gres, MI 48703.”

Good Morning AGS Families. We had an unplanned and prolonged fire drill today, resulting from a "stuck" alarm pull station. lasted a little over 10 minutes. Everyone responded well and is safe, but it was longer than our typical planned fire drills usually go. Lemons to lemonade though, this counts as one of our required drills for the year.

As educators, we are all part of the same team. Every classroom, conversation, lesson, and interaction is an opportunity to help our students grow into caring, productive, and self-fulfilled citizens. Academics matter, but so does teaching kindness, accountability, empathy, communication, and how to contribute to something bigger than yourself. When we work together and reinforce these values consistently, we are not just preparing kids for the next grade. We are helping prepare them for life. #WolverinesLead #PavingPossibilities #Teamwork #PositivityProject

Fifth graders also serve their community by leading the whole school in saying the Pledge of Allegiance every morning! All students participate and serve as role models to help demonstrate to our youngest and oldest students how to be respectful and responsible school leaders.
