Congratulations to Au Gres-Sims Seniors Mallory Gordon, Regan Bunker, Dayton Crouterfield, and Natalie Hoadley on being named recipients of the 1st Annual Doc Harpham AGS Scholarship.

The Doc Harpham AGS Graduate Scholarship was established this year by the Harpham family in coordination with the Au Gres-Sims School District and is funded through proceeds from the annual Doc Harpham Memorial Fishing Tournament. Candidates for the scholarship must have a strong academic record and expressed interest and involvement in the outdoors of Arenac County. Winners of the scholarship are required to submit their post-graduation plan that includes some form of post-secondary education. Unique to this scholarship, applicants are tasked with writing a reflection letter to themselves as freshmen with advice and insight gained from high school. Application packets are reviewed by both the district and the Harpham family for selection of the winners.

The Doc Harpham Memorial Fishing Tournaments bring in fishermen from all over the state and country with over 75 boats hitting the water for each event. This year’s series sees events in Linwood, Port Austin, and Au Gres. The Au Gres tournament will be the weekend of July 15-17, headquartered out of Riverside Park.
