Board of Education Vacancy Notice

After 11.5 years of service to our school district, Mr. Fred Robel announced his resignation from the AGS Board of Education at the regular meeting held on Monday, May 18. We would like to thank Mr. Robel for his dedication to the students, staff, and community, and the countless hours of commitment he has so graciously served.

Under Mr. Robel's leadership AGS successfully navigated difficult financial times, the closure of Arenac Eastern, the planning and passing of the 2018 school bond, the construction process that ensued during a pandemic, and the hiring of a superintendent. We thank Mr. Robel for his service and wish him good luck in his next endeavors.

His resignation from the Board means that we have a vacancy that must be filled to restore the seven seats of our district. Civically and service-minded community members should submit their interest in writing to the Office of the Superintendent (mingc@ags-schools.org) by 4pm on Thursday, June 11. Interviews of candidates will take place during the next regular board meeting, on Monday, June 15th at 6pm (after the rest of meeting business).

The candidate selected by the sitting members of the Board will serve through December 2026. If they wish to serve longer they must register to be included on the November 2026 ballot, to be elected by the constituency.
