We are proud to share with you a summary of our 2018-19 Awards and Achievements
-  Passed an $8.1 million comprehensive bond proposal in August, 2018 with a 67% voter approval rate

-  38 graduating seniors from the Class of 2019 earned a combined value of $289,430 in collegiate scholarships

-  For the second consecutive year, Au Gres-Sims 3rd and 4th grade students demonstrated the highest early literacy scores in reading and writing throughout the entire Bay-Arenac Intermediate School District on the State of Michigan’s annual M-STEP assessment  

-  Au Gres-Sims Middle School and High School Bands again received the highest Division I rankings at both District and State Band Festivals for the ninth consecutive year

-  Au Gres-Sims Great Start Readiness Preschool (GSRP) received the highest 5-star rating for six straight years

-  Continued to provide on-campus Dual Enrollment courses and TRIO Talent Search college access program opportunities in partnership with Alpena Community College for a fifth consecutive school year

-  Au Gres-Sims High School Science Olympiad team qualified for the state competition for the third straight year

-  Enrolled into the federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program to provide every student on campus, regardless of income, free breakfast and lunch every day, saving families $918 annually per child 

-  Au Gres-Sims Elementary Teacher, Brook Begres, was selected as one of seven new Innovative Educator Corps (IEC) members by the Michigan Department of Education for her work in developing unique STEM programs

-  Au Gres-Sims High School Teacher, Lydia Rodarte, was selected by EF Tours to participate in a fully sponsored five-day, professional development Language Immersion Tour in Madrid, Spain, in February, 2019

-  Au Gres-Sims High School Teacher, Luke Freeman, was selected as a 2019 Dow Innovation Teacher Fellow to partner with Dow, University of Michigan, and Delta College to create sustainable STEM curriculum projects

-  Au Gres-Sims Superintendent, Jeffrey Collier, was highlighted by the School Superintendents Association (AASA) to represent Michigan in their national Leaders Matter Superintendent Spotlight campaign  

-  Partnered with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to create a Pathways to Potential Program and bring a Student Success Coach to campus for a second straight year 

-  The Au Gres-Sims Science Program was featured in a video sponsored by the US Fish & Wildlife Service and Saginaw Bay Watershed Initiate Network (WIN) and filmed by Heart of the Lakes titled, “Place Based”      

-  Superintendent Collier was selected by the Michigan Association of School Administrators (MASA) to deliver an “Ed Talk” at the 2019 MASA Mid-Winter Conference in Detroit, Michigan

-  Au Gres-Sims elementary students continued participating in the fourth year of a longitudinal study of invasive species on Big Charity Island in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative, Michigan State University Extension, Michigan Sea Grant, Huron Pines, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Saginaw Valley State University

-  Partnered with the Michigan Department of Education and Bopp-Busch Manufacturing Company to sponsor a high school FIRST Robotics team for the third consecutive season

-  Our popular second year Nike Marathon Kids elementary and middle school student running club was featured in the Marathon Kids Magazine and website for excellence in training and commitment

-  Au Gres-Sims supported a local chapter of Girls on the Run to provide empowerment lessons to preadolescent girls in grades 3-5 for a fourth successful year

-  The Au Gres-Sims Wolverines varsity softball team earned the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association’s (MHSSCA) Academic All-State team award

-  The Au Gres-Sims Wolverines varsity football team were League Champions, District Champions, Regional Champions, and State Semi-Finalists - They won the North Star League title for the third straight year and were an Honorable Mention Academic All-State team for a second straight year

-  Varsity Football Coach, Chad Zeien, was selected by his peers as one of the 2018 Michigan High School Football Coaches Association’s (MHSFCA) Regional Coach of the Year Award winners

-  Au Gres-Sims hosted the North Star League’s Sportsmanship Summit themed, “Small Schools, Big Dreams”
