Fantastic Indicators of Literacy Achievement at Au Gres-Sims!

December 9, 2019

Au Gres-Sims is pleased to announce continued positive indicators of success from our unrelenting focus on English Language Arts (ELA) literacy programming.  A four-year data trend, graphed statistically by the Reading Now Network’s (RNN) 2019 Data Tool (See image below), indicates that out of the 27 elementary and middle schools throughout the entire Bay-Arenac Intermediate School District, Au Gres-Sims Elementary School was ranked first in overall literacy achievement when considering “at-risk” factors, and the Au Gres-Sims Middle School was ranked 16th.  This is important information to understand, because it indicates “over-achievement” of academic accomplishment by students who may have pending risk factors that could hamper achievement in comparison to their peers who may not.

According to the Practical School Improvement Timeline for Michigan’s website, the newest iteration in 2019 RNN data in Tableau features the 2016-2019 RNN Data that includes the newer multiple regression that considers additional "at-risk" factors correlated to student achievement applied to the past four years.  The two most significant factors included in the "multiple regression" was poverty and chronic absenteeism.
